Growth Mindset: Learning With Passion and Enthusiasm



I watched the Sprouts video Learning With Passion and Enthusiasm and really enjoyed it. It really makes a difference in how much you retain if you put a little passion into your learning. It is so much easier to handle a difficult class if you have passion and enthusiasm for the subject. I learned this a few years ago when I finally found a major that I enjoy. I am curious to see if I can find a bit of passion in my classes that I do not like the subject as much.

    Hi, Caitlyn!

    I could not agree more that passion makes all the difference! Something I have found fascinating throughout college is how much more I enjoy classes that are taught by passionate professors, even when I have no meaningful interest in the course topic. For example, I have had one professor who absolutely loves accounting; that love shines through all of his lectures. While I have no personal affinity for accounting, I was motivated to perform better in the class simply because he was so genuinely upbeat about our learning the concepts.

Week 7 Story:The Sun-Goddess's Return

She was the most beautiful goddess and definitely the brightest. One day, she was sitting at the loom of the world, weaving in different pieces of life. She weaved into the pattern patches of joy and love with dismay and slaughter. Her loom was filled with all the parts of life. Suddenly, the demon of fire, Susa-no-wo came down from the peak. He came with wrath and malice, tearing in from the void. Amaterasu was frightened by her brother’s sudden presence and feared his power. She fled to the shadows of night in a cave to hide from the wrath of her brother and would refused to return to the heavens. All the people mourned the disappearance of their beautiful goddess. Their bright star was gone and so the people begged and cried for her return. But, she would not leave her cave and the people became even more upset
