Famous Last Words: Getting Back into the Swing of Things
This last week was pretty rough in terms of classwork. I found it was extremely difficult to get back into the swing of things with my classes, especially my Morphology class. Any extended break makes coming back to classes so hard, but there is something about Spring Break that takes it to an entirely different level. I had a huge paper due for one of my classes on Thursday and I definitely struggled to get started on it before Wednesday rolled around. For my Morphology class, we were supposed to have homework due on Thursday, as well, but our professor got stuck in an airport Monday night due to a nasty storm, so Tuesday's lecture was cancelled and the homework was postponed to this coming Tuesday. Instead of taking advantage of the much needed extra time to work on this homework assignment, I procrastinated the work and am now drowning in Morphology problems. One of my classmates emailed me last night, though, and he is in the same position as me. Knowing I have someone else with me on the procrastination train is nice, but I think it is just going to encourage me to do it again next time. For now, we are meeting up to work on the problems together (this is actually highly encouraged by our professor, we're not cheating by working in groups). I am hoping that this next week goes a bit more smoothly, but we shall see. I have to try and work ahead this week and next because my brother is getting married two weeks from yesterday and there are so many little errands and stuff that I have to take care of. I keep thinking that towards the end of a semester things would begin to wind down so you can start reviewing everything you have learned, but the opposite always seems to happen. The closer the end gets, the more work I have to do. My biggest goal for this next week though is definitely not falling asleep in public like I did three times this last week. Every time was on campus, so that wasn't so bad. I feel like on campus, everyone just expects there to be at least a few people passed out from pure exhaustion, especially on the couches in the Union. Someone is always asleep in there (it's usually me...).
